Figurine of The Runner

AED 700

the Story
Mauro Machado’s pride couldn’t handle the idea that his once-chiseled washboard abs had become a distant memory, so he decided to prove himself by entering the annual marathon. Determined to show his wife—and himself—that he still had it, he launched from the starting line like a lightning bolt, elbowing his way to the front. At 50 meters, Mauro was alone at the head of the race, feeling like a triumphant gazelle. But by 100 meters, the lead runners passed him, and by 500 meters, the rest were leaving him far behind. The excitement of his early burst, combined with gulping down two water bottles, left him winded. By 700 meters, a sharp pain seized his side, and at 800 meters, everything blurred as he floated through a surreal dream-like state. When he came to, a soft voice pulled him back to reality. A sports doctor hovered over him, telling him to stay calm. “Stop pretending you’re Carl Lewis!” the doctor quipped, fitting him with an oxygen mask. Mauro’s dream of a marathon victory had ended after less than a kilometer, but at least his pride was still intact—barely.
