An authentic meal should taste just like those our grandmothers used to make,” declared the restaurant manager to Susana Pereyra, the new cook. At that moment, Susana froze—her grandmother couldn’t even boil an egg! When asked to prepare an old-fashioned pheasant stew, beads of sweat began to roll down her face, and the fear of losing her job became real. Panicking, she tossed ingredients into the pot, desperately trying to recall any culinary wisdom. Then it hit her—her Spanish grandmother’s favorite phrase: “Chorizo is fine when cooked with good wine.” Without hesitation, Susana poured half a bottle of “Chateau Margaux Grand Cru” and tossed in three Iberian chorizos. Two hours later, the kitchen was filled with an irresistible aroma. The manager, tasting the stew, was astonished by its flavor. “Congratulations, Miss Pereyra! Clearly, your grandmother was an extraordinary cook,” he beamed.
