Daughter of the Guardian (Bint El-Hares), released in 1968, is one of the most beloved Lebanese musical films and a treasured chapter in Arab cinema history. Starring the legendary diva Fairuz, the film was directed by renowned filmmaker Henry Barakat, with story, music, and lyrics created by the iconic Rahbani brothers — Assi and Mansour Rahbani.

When the village becomes so safe that crime disappears, the elderly town guard — Fairuz’s father — is dismissed from his role. Determined to restore his dignity, Fairuz disguises herself as a mysterious masked thief, creating harmless mischief to remind the village of her father’s importance.
